I Need Nerves of Steel

And focus.
On Friday, I weighed in with Mollie.

Down 19 pounds since starting with her.
Not quite three months ago.
Got the furnace burning!

My travel is crazy this month.

Mollie expects me to keep the weight loss going.
We’ve been working on clean eating strategies.
And exercises I can do anywhere.

The pressure is on.

Most people say losing weight while traveling [...]

Raindrop Snatched the Glory

Out of GiGi’s mouth - literally.
Raindrop is my 6.5 year old dog.

Her favorite toy is a Gatorade bottle filled with kibble.
She twists the tops off.
And loves the extra treats.

Enter GiGi the puppy.

Who does things differently than Raindrop.
GiGi does not twist tops off.
She chews through them until they release!

At first Raindrop was territorial.

Raindrop would not let GiGi near [...]

Great Ideas Left Unseen

Literally.
Was at the new stir fry place.

Do it yourself.
Until you reach the sauces.
Then work with the sauce expert.

The woman next to me was a first-timer.

Pondered out loud where to start.
Sharp waitress seized the moment.
Offered card filled with suggestions to help the woman.

The problem?

The font was small.
Maybe nine points.
And the food bar area pretty dim.

The [...]

Feeling Like a Star

   And liking it.
Last month I attended my first PCMA meeting.

Jeff Hurt and Dave Lutz asked me to speak.
As part of their very cool Learning Lounge.
I did two 12-minute talks.

I spoke as a volunteer.

Thought it would be a good way to meet people.
I am a new member.
Didn’t know a lot of folks.

Jeff and Dave totally [...]

He Didn’t Believe in Volunteering

No duh.
Had a conversation with an association manager.

A few weeks ago.
The who doesn’t matter.
The story does.

He was struggling to get members to volunteer.

No one would say yes.
No one had time.
His association was stumbling big time.

I asked how people recruited him to volunteer.

He said he didn’t volunteer.
No interest.
Not a joiner.

He spewed out more reasons…

No time.
Boss [...]

Effective Immediately I Quit!

As Queen of Bugs
I don’t know what’s with me this summer.

I am major bug bait.
You name the bug.
They try to bite me.

I walk outside…

Bugs fly 50 miles in two minutes flat.
To suck my blood.
(Who needs Team Edward and Twilight?)

Today the bugs got more aggressive.

Started dive bombing me.
One even got in my eye!
(It was so [...]

You Just Gotta Ask

It works pretty well.
This year I’m part of ASAE’s Fundraising Team for the new ASAE Foundation.

I’m excited.
I spent the last three years on the research committee.
Got an insider’s perspective to ASAE’s research process.

This year I’m raising money to pay for the research.

It’s a stretch for me.
Never been on a formal fundraising team before.
(Don’t [...]

From Misfit to Rock Star

One dog’s story.
When Mavis was a pup she had big dreams.

To be a seeing-eye dog.
She went to school - and didn’t make the cut.
She was too social.

Mavis could have given up.

Called herself a failure.
Blamed the school for stupid rules.
But she didn’t.

Mavis decided to turn her weakness into a strength.

Find an employer that appreciated [...]
