I Can See Clearly Now

The smoke is gone.

Decided to cook dinner.

In rental unit kitchenette.
Got fresh meat.
Heated my pan.

Tossed the meat in right after a little oil.

Smoke started to billow immediately.
No fire.
But lots of smoke.

Turned down the heat.

It was too late.
The kitchen became as smokey as a bar after midnight.
It was hard to breathe and to see.

I opened the [...]

I Woke to the Rumbling

Of a rain storm.

Sunday was supposed to be the big day.

Running my first 5K.
Trained for weeks to get ready.
Dreams crushed last week by a cracked toe.

Never thought about rain.

Did my training on a track in the gym.
Was going to do four runs outside before the race.
To get used to pounding on cement.

Not sure I [...]

I Was Just Trying to Help!

Raindrop here.
Have you ever felt totally misunderstood?

Blamed for bad when trying to do good?
Acting with best of intentions and accused of being wrong?
That’s me.

Mom blames me for not getting any Easter candy yesterday.

Says the Easter Bunny is mad.
Because I ate her babies.
Thus no chocolate on the kitchen table.

That’s not what happened.

I was outside with GiGi.
We [...]

Say Goodbye to 75

Big difference, eh?
Today I weigh 75 pounds less than my all time high.

In August I was down 50.
Took almost six months to drop the next 25.
I’ve learned a lot since then.

Psychic food counting does not work.

My protein-fat-carb ratios get mixed up.
Mollie was right.
I have to log my food to lose.

I can run if I want [...]

A Farewell to Cujo

James just watched the movie.
Steven King’s thriller Cujo debuted as a film in 1983.

Lots of politics leading up to the big issue.
Mom and five-year old son locked in car at end of Cujo’s yard.
Cujo is a rabid St. Bernard.

The terror escalates…

It’s hot out - will they die in the car first?
Does mom risk death to [...]

Seeing Through New Eyes

Still blue.
Yesterday we went to the Michigan Women’s Basketball game.

For me, it was a whole new game.
Even though we’ve attended for a few years.
And I grew up loving basketball.

My fitness quest gave me a different perspective.

I no longer just watched the game.
I also watched how the player’s moved.
And compared to training with Mollie.

Wow! Look at [...]

2011: My Year in Pictures

Lots of change!
I started 2011 in Las Vegas.

Attending PCMA.
With James.
Had a great time learning.

The downside of Vegas = all the walking.

Everything seemed miles apart.
It was hard for me to do.
Even with new walking shoes.

In February our family grew.

We adopted GiGi.
Another Chihuahua/pug
Her job: to pep Raindrop up.

GiGi gives all of us a run for our money!

Her [...]

Less Stop, More Go!

Ahhh memories…
My dad worked for Ford Tractor for more than 30 years.

In the marketing department.
Doing international marketing.
(My source for marketing in my blood!)

For a while, Ford did a massive show with their tractors each year.

Almost like Broadway.
Dancing girls and dancing tractors.
And a catchy musical score about the tractors.

I grew up watching Mom and Dad dancing [...]
