True Confession…

 I was wrong.
I spent the last week in St. Pete Beach writing my new book, The Lazy Leader’s Guide to Outrageous Results.
The Lazy Leader concept had been rolling in my head for almost a year.

It was time to come out.
In print by January 2009.

A week ago, I planned to write a sassy, “in-your-face” book

To [...]

James and the Giant Jellyfish…

  And the jellyfish won!
With me busy writing my Lazy Leader book, James decided to compete in a 5K open water swim.

The morning was beautiful.
The water calm.
The sand like white diamonds.

It was a great day for a race!

James arrived on time.
Met some neat people.
Got off to a strong start.

And then came the jellyfish…

James had his head out [...]

The Sign Said “Zipper!”

  UGH!
So there I was giving the kick-off keynote address to about 500 volunteer leaders.

It was a few minutes into the program.
I was already in the groove.
Lift-off was smooth!

Until, that is, the association staff person at table in front of me held up a sign saying “Zipper!”

I blinked hard hoping I was seeing things.
Then I [...]

I Like Your Red Hair…

He grinned - and challenged with his eyes.
I stopped to grab a bite to eat in the Orlando airport.
The guy waiting on me looked like he might be a gang member.

He had the attitude.
His hair was shaved off.
The tattoo on his arm looked like a gang symbol.

I gave him a big smile and thanked him for the compliment.
He [...]

It Was a First Class Ending…

  For a great day!
Today was a keeper.

I rocked my program.
Met some very cool leaders.
Had a smooth departure to the airport.

Somewhere in the course of the day, I decided I wanted to fly home in first class.

It just felt right.
I’m an elite flier so it was possible.

And my being upgraded made no sense.

Orlando flights are [...]

A Miracle Happened Today…

My website has a new ‘do!
My website has needed a makeover for a while.

The content was solid.
The look was outdated.

The overhaul had been a B-list item forever.

Something was always more important.
I didn’t have the energy or inspiration.
Whatever!

Late this summer, a shift was in the air.

Sarah picked up my “slow work.”
The stars were finally in [...]

Finding a Cartoon Artist…

  Shouldn’t be this hard.
I’m hiring an artist to do some work for my upcoming Lazy Leader book.
I had no idea how hard it would be.
I thought I was pretty clear in my description of the work I wanted.

Upbeat and happy cartoon character.
Confident and strong woman.
With short red hair. (Surprised?)

Sort of like The Archies style of characters.
So [...]

Is Their Approach Sneaky or Smart?

 What do you think?
I just got a dues renewal notice from an association I no longer belong to.

I decided I wasn’t getting enough value.
And did not renew last year.

The renewal notice was simply an invoice for the upcoming year.

No letter.
No benefits.
Just a request for payment.

I couldn’t believe they sent a nonmember just an invoice - and James almost cut [...]
