The Real Deal…

  Was quite the treat!
Yesterday we celebrated James’ 29th birthday.
I offered to take James any place in the world for dinner.
Paris was a strong contender, but…

The corporate jet was being washed.
James wanted to save the gas.

So we went to his Ann Arbor favorite restaurant - Zingerman’s Roadhouse.

They treated him like a king.
The food was amazing - as usual.

The evening [...]

Finding a Cartoon Artist…

  Shouldn’t be this hard.
I’m hiring an artist to do some work for my upcoming Lazy Leader book.
I had no idea how hard it would be.
I thought I was pretty clear in my description of the work I wanted.

Upbeat and happy cartoon character.
Confident and strong woman.
With short red hair. (Surprised?)

Sort of like The Archies style of characters.
So [...]

Is Their Approach Sneaky or Smart?

 What do you think?
I just got a dues renewal notice from an association I no longer belong to.

I decided I wasn’t getting enough value.
And did not renew last year.

The renewal notice was simply an invoice for the upcoming year.

No letter.
No benefits.
Just a request for payment.

I couldn’t believe they sent a nonmember just an invoice - and James almost cut [...]

Hit Me with Your Best Shot…

   You do have one, right?
Fall is a great time for recruiting new members and volunteers.

The back to school season often means changing calendars.
You’ve got to be ready to take advantage of fresh interest.
This means getting folks to show up at your chapter.

We’re working it at the Chapter Leaders Playground with September webinars.

There’s a New Kid in Town…

  Her name is Tutu.
Raindrop spent the last week at her grandparents with her new “sister” Tutu.
Tutu is a 10-pound rat terrier.

She’s a rescue dog.
She’s the pesky little sister Raindrop never wanted to have.
Raindrop loves her already.

My parents keep Raindrop for us a few weeks every year due to travel.
Mom and Dad had to put Snowy to sleep [...]

What a Welcome!

   It felt good to arrive.
Last night we attended my niece’s dinner theater production at her church.

We don’t belong to the church.
Had never been there before.

Five people had greeted us.

The first welcome came when we pulled onto the church property.
Further into the complex, more greeters told us where to park.
A nice man and his wife parked [...]

Forget the I’s…

I want more U’s!
This just in (again)…
Dear Cynthia,
I found your email/profile/website.
I am great. Really great. I am so great.
Can I have your money?
                     Hopefully, Your new friend
No, this isn’t an email from those crazy guys in Nigeria giving me millions of dollars - if I only give them access to my bank account.

And it [...]
