The Doctor Fish Made a Foot Call

And my feet are baby soft.
Yesterday, I left Ann Arbor to hide away to finish my new book, The Lazy Leader’s Guide to Outrageous Results.
Today, I got writer’s block.

Ugh.
Maybe I just needed to relax a bit.
Create space for the new ideas to flow.

I decided to try out a doctor fish pedicure.

You dunk your feet in a vat filled with [...]

Would You Take the Stage in Your Tighty-Whities?

   Mark did.
Mark LeBlanc is finishing his year as president of the National Speakers Association.
He chose a theme for the year - NSA Rocks - and it’s been incorporated consistently into member experiences.

Promotions featured a flaming logo.
Rock stars provided performance tips.
The convention was repositioned as three day concert.

When Mark took the stage to welcome everyone [...]

Psst… Andy’s Got a Secret!

He let out the word out late Friday night.
Andy, a volunteer with American Society of Association Executives, is also a social networking guru kind of guy.
Andy leaked the news of a secret session at a secret time at the upcoming annual meeting taking place in San Diego.

Two secret speakers would debate the impact of social [...]

Weddings on the Water

Provides a new twist to a traditional event.
In St. Petersburg, Florida you can get married in a floating wedding chapel.

It’s the perfect way to combine a formal wedding with a beach setting.
As the bride and groom exchange vows, the floating chapel tours the waters.

What a fun way to have it all!
(I almost wanted to [...]

14-Hour Days in Orlando…

Spent in class - not with Mickey.
This weekend, James and I participated in Ford Saeks’ marketing intensive event.
I hadn’t looked forward to what I thought would be a grueling learning experience…

10-14 hour days in class.
Having to sit still for such a long time.
And let someone else do the bulk of the talking!

Ford’s [...]

A Mile of Butterfly…

   Created quite the splash.
This weekend, James competed in the Michigan Master’s State Meet.
James is a distance swimmer.

One of his events was the 1650 yard freestyle.
That’s equivalent to one mile.

Freestyle means crawl to most - but not to James.
He prefers to compete in distant events doing the butterfly stroke.
And this weekend, boy did James butterfly [...]

I Won the Lottery!

At least that’s what the lady said.
Yesterday I spent the day in Washington, DC brainstorming with association executives the potential impacts of trends on the future of associations.
Charged by all the ideas spinning in my head, I floated down the Metro station escalator - and got in the wrong train!
I needed to get the [...]

Not Again!

I am so tired of snow I could scream!
I thought spring had arrived.

The temperatures were in the 40s.
I was buzzing around without my winter coat.
It was time.

Or so I thought!
Yesterday afternoon I saw some of the biggest snowflakes I’ve ever seen falling with fury and once again wrapping Ann Arbor in a blanket of [...]
