The $2,000 Dollar Question

   Do you trust me?
My answer?

No.
I like you lots.
And it’s still no.

Got a promotion today for a conference.

The focus is something I might be interested in.
The registration fee about $1,000.
Probably $2,000 with travel.

I go to the site for details and find only program titles.

Some are sort of snappy, but…
No speakers identified.
No learning objectives.

How am I [...]

Let Me Count The Ways to Get You…

   To the game.
This weekend James and I attended the Michigan Women’s Basketball game.

We catch the games when we can.
To support women’s sports.
And take in the experience - and what an experience it was!

I’m not sure which I enjoyed more…

The game.
(Won with less than a minute to go!)
Or the other stuff in between.

Michigan was very [...]

Just Trust Me…

   Next!
Got an email promotion for a webinar.

Offered by an association I belong to.
90-minutes long.
Almost $200 to attend.

Hmmm…

The headline grabbed me.
The program description spoke my language.
I was intrigued.

The speaker was…

Unknown.
Not as in not famous.
As in not listed.

What am I supposed to do?

Trust them to have someone fantastic?
Competent?
A canned program?

Is this webinar is worth $200?

A marketer wrote [...]

I’m Calling About the Webinar…

   Huh?
You know, the webinar you attended?

On how to use social media.
About two months ago.
It was free.

I was totally stumped.

Didn’t recognize the name of the organization he represented.
Irritated him when I didn’t remember their program.
(Come on, since then, I’ve sat through at least 10 more on the topic!)

He repeated the company name a little louder.

Told me they [...]

An Almost Perfect Convention Promotion

   Fell three words short.
Got an email encouraging me to attend an association’s convention.

Finally one well done!
It’s been a dry spell for a while.
It was almost perfect - if not for three missing words.

First what they did well…

The writer was personal with me.
He understood and acknowledged the last few months.
He felt my potential pain.

He provided solutions.

To [...]

A Fun Awards Night

   With a new twist.
Saturday I helped emcee an awards show.

For the National Investor Relations Institute chapter leaders.
We wanted to spice up the event.
And add a bit of a show.

I interviewed award winners live.

Award submissions would be posted on website.
I asked questions about the secrets of their success.
The real scoop on what worked.

The interviews helped liven up the event.

All [...]

I Missed a Great Opportunity

 +
Unbelievable.
Last night James and I went to watch the sunset on the beach.

We’ve been doing it every night.
Have done it every visit.
I’ve got a gazillion sunset photos. (See above.)

Last night I didn’t bring my camera.

Expected the same.
Didn’t seem worth the effort.
I had enough sunset photos.

Boy was I wrong.

We arrived in time for a show [...]

Chocolate-Covered Bacon for Dessert?

   Why not?
Today James and I discovered Mazzarro’s Italian Market.

It’s a foodie heaven.
Made-from-scratch food.
We wanted to try one of everything.

They offered unique combinations.

Edamame coleslaw.
Pumpkin ravioli
And chocolate covered bacon.

We decided to try the bacon.

We like chocolate.
Love bacon.
How would the two taste together?

To our surprise it was tasty.

Gourmet chocolate.
Covering scrumptious bacon.
Sweet on salty - and sort of [...]
