Do Not Climb on the Tee Groins!

   Huh?
Usually I think I have a pretty strong vocabulary.
After seeing these signs for several days at the beach, I’m not so sure.

I know what a tee is.
I know what a groin is.

When I put them together, I’m clueless.
Makes me think of chapter leaders…do you repel potential new members by speaking in a secret code [...]

James and the Giant Jellyfish…

  And the jellyfish won!
With me busy writing my Lazy Leader book, James decided to compete in a 5K open water swim.

The morning was beautiful.
The water calm.
The sand like white diamonds.

It was a great day for a race!

James arrived on time.
Met some neat people.
Got off to a strong start.

And then came the jellyfish…

James had his head out [...]

The Doctor Fish Made a Foot Call

And my feet are baby soft.
Yesterday, I left Ann Arbor to hide away to finish my new book, The Lazy Leader’s Guide to Outrageous Results.
Today, I got writer’s block.

Ugh.
Maybe I just needed to relax a bit.
Create space for the new ideas to flow.

I decided to try out a doctor fish pedicure.

You dunk your feet in a vat filled with [...]

This is Your Former Favorite Store Calling…

   I hung up.
The last thing I need is recorded spam calls from stores I shop at.
I could tell from the delay it was a recorded call…

Would it be a celebrity asking me to write my Senator?
Another great deal on a credit card?
No! It was store I like to shop at.

Calling me through a recorded [...]

We Started Out Strangers…

And ended up friends.
Last year, I met Jody DeVere of AskPatty.com at the big BlogHer meeting.

We clicked on site and have stayed in touch.
She lives in California.
When she comes to town we try to get together.

This weekend, Jody was in Detroit and arranged a motley crew dinner of sorts…

From new professional to second career.
From nonprofit [...]

A Simple Thank You

  Made my day.
I just got a nice little thank you note from the ASAE staff who support the Strategic Research Committee.

I am starting my second year as a volunteer on the team.
They appreciated my help at the annual meeting.
And are excited to work with me again.

What a great investment of time for them.

Their total effort [...]

No Introductions Were Needed…

 Who was that guy?
At tonight’s meeting, the first speaker was introduced as “needing no introduction.”
That would be great - if everyone knew who he was.

No one at my table had seen him before.
His name on the agenda gave us little clue.

A few people across the room nodded their heads - as if they knew him.

Did I sit [...]

That’s Not Why We Were Meeting…

And yet the answers were valid.
Today I attended a small volunteer meeting.

We had a specific purpose.
And agenda spelled out.

One of the attendees had something on his mind.

He shared the headline with us.
We both had possible solutions for him.
He quickly moved from very frustrated to very hopeful.

Solutions shared, we moved on to the purpose of the meeting.
At [...]
