Meet Cynthia

My name is Cynthia D’Amour.

I am an advocate for developing leaders and building community. I am lucky to work and collaborate with some of the most amazing people in the world - leaders of associations. Whether national leaders or chapter leaders, these are people who are filled with passion and committed to making a difference.

I serve as a leadership strategist for my consulting firm, People Power Unlimited, LLC which is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. We specialize in working with associations that want to get more members involved - especially today’s volunteers.

I speak at a lot of national leadership conferences, facilitate strategic planning and am the author of seven books including:

  • The Lazy Leader’s Guide to Outrageous Results
  • How to Turn Generation Me into Active Members of Your Association
  • Go Team Go! Leading to Today’s Volunteer to Victory
  • Are You ONE Relationship Away From Making BIG Money?
  • Networking: The Skill the Schools Forgot to Teach

A few more fun facts…

  • I have served more than 60 total years on boards and recruited more than 250 members.
  • I have an MBA - with special emphasis on leadership.
  • The Michigan Jaycees named me a 1998 Outstanding Young Michigander
  • My dog Raindrop is a people lover - just like her mom and dad!
  • I founded the Chapter Leaders Playground - would love to play with you there!

I can’t wait to get to know you better through this blog!

– Cynthia

PS If you would like to have me speak at one of your meetings, shoot an email to damour@peoplepowerunlimited.com

PSS If your company would like to support the development of leaders and sponsor some programs, we have a lot of chapters and organizations that could use your support in bringing me in for them. Let’s talk!

  1. Cynthia,
Help! Oh Please Help me. I want to buy a copy of your highly recommneded book: “How to Turn Generation Me into Active Members of Your Association”.
I am summoning your attention with all the attraction power of my being and this note.
I’ve just been asked to read and review your book: “How to Turn Generation Me into Active Members of Your Association”.
I’m in Corona, CA for the next two days teaching the 7-Habits of Effective People” course for the US Navy.
I’ve called and searched Borders and the local and regional libraries for your book. They didn’t have a copy in stock - to my dismay!
I’ve searced on Amazon.com but am hoping to buy your tonight or tomorrow.
I’m hoping that you’re on tour somewhere close to Corona, CA. Please let me know where I can quickly get a copy.
    Thank you!

  10. Neat blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere? A theme like yours with a few simple adjustements would really make my blog stand out. Please let me know where you got your design. With thanks

  11. Hi Karyn! The theme has been around for a few years. It’s Digg 3 by Small Potato. Hope that helps!

  12. Uncle! I give up! I can’t figure out any more of the alphabet-soup acronyms! SHRM, DMA, APA…totally lost on me. I can handle LOL and IMHO, but who are all these groups????

Thanks. Enjoy your posts and your webinars.

    Bonnie

  13. Thanks for the feedback Bonnie! You are right. I have been using too much alphabet soup. Will do better.

  14. Hello Cynthia & James,

Cynthia’s session at ASAE on Lazy Leaders was amazing. I ran into Cynthia in the elevator and asked about purchasing The Lazy Leaders Guide to Outrageous Results. She said to call James; alas, for the life of me I cannot find a phone number, either in the ASAE materials/website or on this website. I am interested in 14 books and would like to have expedited shipping. Can you advise on price, etc.? My office phone # is (925) 355-1912 or use the email above. THANK YOU, Cynthia!

  15. Thanks for the kind words Diane! I know James has books on the way to you. Can’t wait to start hearing your Lazy Leader success stories!

  16. Cynthia,

Congratulatons!!!! I know you have been working hard to get to where you are at by your posts. Fabulous! Keep up the good work!

    Linda
