I Needed a Timeout

From my life.

This week has been hard.

  • Three trips in one week.
  • Overpacked schedule.
  • Drama from new heart rate monitor.

I took charge of my day.

  • Decided to visit my parents.
  • Packed up James and the dogs.
  • Headed to my childhood home.

My folks were happy to see me.

  • We shared stories of adventures and memories.
  • Goofed around with the camera in my phone.
  • Played with the dogs.

It was a fabulous day - and just what I needed!

Makes me think of chapter leaders…what do you do when you need a timeout from being a leader?

  1. Great post…as always! I think the most important thing to remember is the fact that we are important, but never as important as we think we are. Give yourself - and your staff - permission to step away from the vessel and put it on auto-pilot for a while and just do what you need to do. You come back refreshed and you find out that things went ok without you.

Once you accept that, it become much easier to make it habitual. And a fresh mind is always full of new ideas. Glad you gave yourself a day off. More individuals and organizations need to do that.

    Enjoy the weekend!

  2. Thanks Dave! I love your way with words. At first I felt a little bad about taking the day off - then, perhaps obviously, I leaned into and just played. Feel really relaxed now - ready to hit the gym again tomorrow and the road to St. Cloud MN soon after that!

Somehow we need to get off the competition for being the most busy or most stressed and learn to breathe into our lives. You do this well with your running adventures Dave!
