Raindrop Got a Puppy!

   Meet GiGi.
For the last few months, Raindrop seemed sort of numb.

Happy enough.
But not really stimulated.
Going through the motions.

About a month ago, I took a peek at PetFinder.com

Just to see what was out there.
Maybe Raindrop needed a friend?
Or a job as a boss?

To my delight I found a chug who needed a home.

Chihuahua + pug [...]

Don’t You Forget About Me

   Please!
My favorite weather site did an update.

Rearranged everything.
Made it easier to see their ads.
And harder for me to get the weather.

Thankfully they also offer a classic view.

It takes two extra clicks to use.
But I see my information.
The way I like it.

I understand the need to make money.

I’m an entreprenuer.
But they’ve gone a little too [...]

Learning at My Level

Nice.
Attended NSA’s UNconference.

They tried a lot of new things.
By topic.
And format.

My favorite was the social media intensive-track day.

Started with a big-picture strategic planning session for all.
Each breakout covered a different platform.
Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and more.

The breakouts were the cool part.

Each time slot covered same topic.
With two choices based on skill level.
Yellow belt or black [...]

Just Call Me Janet Jackson

Whew!
Last night was the big party of the conference.

The music played.
The dance floor beckoned.
And things went downhill quickly.

I ran out to dance with friends.

Shimmy, shimmy.
Shake, shake.
And the pants start tumbling down.

Not quite as bad as Janet Jackson’s 2004 Super Bowl reveal.

But it was a close call.
Several times.
Over and over.

I’ve lost just enough inches to [...]

I Am Important

Are you impressed?
I recently got a letter in the mail.

From an association I no longer belong to.
Sent by the volunteer in charge of membership.
Her name was all over it.

The letter was basically about her.

She used “me,” “my” or “I” six times.
In a four-paragraph letter.
With four mentions in the first paragraph alone.

The letter read like [...]

It Was a Promise Based on Nothing

   Disappointing.
Got a letter from a credit card company.

Usually I can tell solicitations.
Just zip them.
Don’t think twice.

This one was different.

The envelope was puffy.
Could there be something fun in there?
I couldn’t figure it out by squeezing.

Opened the envelope.

Peeked inside.
Found a piece of bubble wrap.
What the heck?

My expectation of cool was greeted by bubble wrap.

I was insulted.
Felt [...]

Great Ideas Left Unseen

Literally.
Was at the new stir fry place.

Do it yourself.
Until you reach the sauces.
Then work with the sauce expert.

The woman next to me was a first-timer.

Pondered out loud where to start.
Sharp waitress seized the moment.
Offered card filled with suggestions to help the woman.

The problem?

The font was small.
Maybe nine points.
And the food bar area pretty dim.

The [...]

How Could I Be So Right and So Wrong?

At the same time!
It started with a conversation with my trainer Mollie.

We talked about what in-shape people do.
How the behaviors compare to dieting.
And those who need to lose weight.

For example, keeping food logs.

I hate it.
Always viewed as diet torture.
Makes this big-picture thinker nuts.

Mollie has all her clients do it.

Those who have weight to lose.
And [...]
