Drats!
Today I tried to call a friend.
At his work.
Got the automated operator.
Asked me for his extension - which I didn’t have.
Offered me a staff directory.
“Enter the name of the person I want.”
I typed in his name.
Nothing.
Tried again.
I know how to spell his name.
Entered the keys slowly.
Still nothing.
I hung up and called back.

Match set.
It was minutes before I needed to go downstairs to give a keynote.
Grabbed my speaking shoes out of my suitcase.
Gave them a quick look.
And almost threw up.
In my hands I had two shoes.
One black with a bronze swirl.
The other bronze with a lacy edge.

What would you do?
Kevin was a first-time volunteer.
Helping with the chapter’s big holiday parade.
Assigned to the parade experience team.
Their job to make watching the parade fun.
Kevin was given an assignment.
Buy candy to throw at kids.
And jazzy buckets so folks saw the chapter name.
He had a specific budget to spend.

Surprised even myself!
Today was my 10th hour with Joy Queen of Torture.
My fitness trainer.
We started working out together late April.
Due to travel, it took until today to reach session #10.
Was it worth it?
I’m not down 43 pounds yet.
I have lost some inches.
And got a lot more sass.

I spent Thursday night in a hotel.
Upgraded to a junior suite.
Lovely rooms.
With a nice view.
Friday morning I woke up with bug bites on my face.

Got an invitation this morning.
Via evite.
To a jewelry party.
At a woman’s home.
I don’t think I know her.
She didn’t tell me anything personal.
Except jewelry is on sale.
Her name is not familiar.

Curious? I am.
I’m testing the impact of water on me.
As you know, I’ve been working out like crazy.
Often in pain the next day.
My cousin challenged that I didn’t drink enough.
I had signs of dehydration.
And didn’t realize it.

Why was I surprised?
I’ve been attending a seminar.
Four 12-hour days.
Sitting.
In a classroom.
For the first two days, I did the right thing.
Up at 5 AM.
An hour on the elliptical.
Before starting the daily marathon.
Day three was different.
Decided to sleep in a bit.
And talk with James.
