Family Time Alone
Posted on May 15th, 2010 by Cynthia D'Amour
Today I saw a dad and two sons.
- Eating lunch together.
- At a nice restaurant.
- Seated in the extra special area.
They did not talk for the bulk of lunch.
- All three had iPhones.
- Consumed by them.
- Ignoring each other.
They didn’t seem angry with each other.
- Just busy.
- Typing away.
- Shoving food in their mouths.
At the end, the two boys got up and left.
- Dad tried to finish his drink.
- And ran to catch up.
- Made me sad.
Family dinners were so different growing up in my house.
- We shared updates.
- Solved challenges.
- And even practiced solutions with each other.
Our meals were about supporting each other - not just eating food.
Makes me think of chapter leaders…do you seize opportunities to help your members support each other?
