He’s Hot - and I’m Not?

What’s wrong with this picture?
We live in a 87 year old house.
- It’s got funky style.
- Lots of windows to let in sunshine.
- And drafty bedrooms!
Last year, I discovered a heated mattress pad.
- Pure heaven.
- No more seven feet of down comforters on the bed.
- Or mittens and hat worn to bed!
Two weeks ago we put my beloved mattress pad on our bed.
- I was ready for the warm embrace.
- But something was wrong.
- My side no longer worked.
Talk about frustrating!
- I put my control on high.
- Barely anything happened.
- James roasted on low.
Did I break it somehow?
- Bend the wires?
- Not plug in properly?
- What was wrong?
I began to get mad at night.
- James was too hot.
- And no matter how high I put my control.
- Nothing.
It was time for Plan B.
- I found a replacement online.
- Just as I was about to push the buy button.
- James called from upstairs.
“Do you think we have the controls mixed up?”
- Huh? Was that possible?
- We were so careful when we set the bed up.
- I rushed upstairs…
Long story shorter.
- James was right.
- We swapped control sides.
- My warm bed was back - and I slept like a baby last night.
All that frustration due simply to crossed wires - literally!
Makes me think of chapter leaders…when faced with chapter challenges, do you check the basics before launching an overhaul?
