He’s Hot - and I’m Not?

   What’s wrong with this picture?

We live in a 87 year old house.

  • It’s got funky style.
  • Lots of windows to let in sunshine.
  • And drafty bedrooms!

Last year, I discovered a heated mattress pad.

  • Pure heaven.
  • No more seven feet of down comforters on the bed.
  • Or mittens and hat worn to bed!

Two weeks ago we put my beloved mattress pad on our bed.

  • I was ready for the warm embrace.
  • But something was wrong.
  • My side no longer worked.

Talk about frustrating!

  • I put my control on high.
  • Barely anything happened.
  • James roasted on low.

Did I break it somehow?

  • Bend the wires?
  • Not plug in properly?
  • What was wrong?

I began to get mad at night.

  • James was too hot.
  • And no matter how high I put my control.
  • Nothing.

It was time for Plan B.

  • I found a replacement online.
  • Just as I was about to push the buy button.
  • James called from upstairs.

“Do you think we have the controls mixed up?”

  • Huh? Was that possible?
  • We were so careful when we set the bed up.
  • I rushed upstairs…

Long story shorter.

  • James was right.
  • We swapped control sides.
  • My warm bed was back - and I slept like a baby last night.

All that frustration due simply to crossed wires - literally!

Makes me think of chapter leaders…when faced with chapter challenges, do you check the basics before launching an overhaul?
