I’m Calling About the Webinar…
Posted on October 13th, 2009 by Cynthia D'Amour
You know, the webinar you attended?
- On how to use social media.
- About two months ago.
- It was free.
I was totally stumped.
- Didn’t recognize the name of the organization he represented.
- Irritated him when I didn’t remember their program.
- (Come on, since then, I’ve sat through at least 10 more on the topic!)
He repeated the company name a little louder.
- Told me they had experts on their panel.
- Important information.
- Couldn’t believe I didn’t remember!
Finally something clicked.
- Ironically I was intrigued by their platform.
- And had asked someone to contact me.
- The same day as their webinar.
I’m doing a demo next week - and they are starting with a negative score in my mind given the poor follow up.
Makes think of chapter leaders…do your chapter experiences stand out as special in the minds of your members?

Cynthia, you bring up some interesting points! Lead qualification for attendees at a webinar needs to be more transaparent. Sponsors should ask questions like - “would you like to hear more about how we can help or are you just here for the FREE stuff?” “are you buying soon or do you just have general interest?” “Decision maker, influencer or user?”
You’ve got one of two things happening with this company. Either their follow up sucks (and will be a reflection of your experience after you buy) or they did a poor job of qualifying for the real opportunities so they could follow up with those that had true interest more timely.
I hope it’s the 2nd one. Either way, during the demo, it’s your opportunity to help them for next time around.
Hi Dave,
I agree with you about the major red flags with this company moving forward. The sales guy was totally green - but the platform is pretty cool. But poor support is not good. We’ll see how the demo goes.
