Yes.
Today I got a terse email from an association I dropped.
It doesn’t give me the warm fuzzies.
And make me want to come back.
What do you think?
Association name is changed.
This is the first two paragraphs.
The rest was too painful to share.
Did you know that your XYZ membership has expired on 04/30/2009?
I am sending you this [...]

Seriously.
A wedding party dances down the aisle.
Maybe 200 guests see it live.
Over 10 million people watch the video on YouTube.
(If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s here.)
The video made me smile.
It looked like they were having fun.
The energy was infectious.
I wished I was there.
Pondering recent chapter events I’ve attended…
Few had interesting visual elements.
No great surpluses of [...]

And delivered.
Worked on my website today.
Doing some major makeover.
Again.
(Keeps me out of trouble.)
Attempted to log on to the control panel.
Needed to clean up my work for day.
So folks who saw my half-done site wouldn’t wonder about me.
Kept getting a blank page. (UGH.)
Called tech support.
The recording told me they had lots of callers.
Offered alternative ways [...]

And I can’t breathe!
I’m on the road.
And have a problem.
I can’t breathe with my clothes on.
And I can’t take them off.
Tuesday night washed all my clothes.
With new enhanced detergent.
One we’ve used before.
With Downy in the mix.
I noticed the fresh clean smell when packing my clothes.
Sort of relaxing.
Made me smile.
Life was good.
Until I realized the [...]

The answer is no.
Just got a final notice from a company.
They create directories.
Want to include all my contact information.
For something I did almost 20 years ago.
Their notice was caught in my spam filter.
No response meant they could publish my information.
Given how big this company is, it hit me the wrong way.
They could write emails [...]

You’re not my parent.
As kids we ask lots of questions - why do I have to…
Clean my room?
Be nice to my brother?
Eat my veggies?
Sometimes parents explain the why.
Other times they fall back on the time-honored, traditional answer.
“Because I said so.”
(It’s a parent’s privilege - or so I’ve been told.)
We zoom forward to adulthood.
Serve as [...]

Who knew?
Lately I immersed myself in exploring the potential of social media.
Supporting chapters.
Fueling a movement
Building community.
Started seeing lots of similarities to my latest book.
The Lazy Leader’s Guide to Outrageous Results.
Transforms do-it-all martyr leaders.
Into Lazy Leaders who involve many.
Social media strategies and Lazy Leaders both:
Let go of control.
Let others get personal with content.
Encourage the party.
The former competitive [...]

(Am I wrong?)
You asked me to serve on your committee.
Pretty high visi-posure.
Important work.
Required my special skills.
I attended first meeting two months ago.
Process explained.
Assignments made.
And then nothing.
I feel like I’m in a black hole.
No communication.
No support.
No clue if I’m on the right track.
Deadline is looming.
My enthusiasm has waned.
Unreturned emails leave me wanting.
Does my contribution really matter?
Maybe I [...]
