Can You Do It in Six Words?
Posted on May 15th, 2009 by Cynthia D'Amour
Some professional speaker friends have been playing a game on Facebook.
- A six-word challenge.
- To put the essence of our speeches in just six words.
- It’s an interesting puzzle to play with.
Mine was: “Lead, don’t work. Get more done!”
- It boils down what I talk about with volunteer leaders.
- Focus on leading others - rather than personally doing all the work.
- Creates space for more people to get involved - and get stuff done.
Will you take the six-word challenge?
- What is the essence of your chapter said in only six words?
- Would other members agree with you?
- Would they recognize your chapter in your description?
I showed you my six words - I challenge you to share yours.
Makes me think of chapter leaders…how do you help your members see the value of your chapter in new and different ways?

This year our Chapter Board’s motto is
Havin’ Fun - Gettin’ it Done!
Way to go Joanne and team! I love it!
Love this challenge! We don’t have chapters, so this one is for the association members -
“Manufacturing premium eyewear for consumers worldwide.”
Hi Carmen!
Thanks for playing! I totally get what your members do from your six words.
Advanced question: What would you say if you have to make those six words project a little more energy? If you got a bit more playful? All this makes it more memorable.
For example, off the top of my head…
Styling others with 20/20 vision worldwide
It’s not quite there but wanted to give you an example about what I meant.
Ready to play some more?
Cynthia
Thanks to Peggy Hoffman for playing with us as well on her blog at http://tinyurl.com/oq5cba.
Her six word headline is:
“It’s the year of the chapter.”
Love that ! Stealing part -
Perfecting 20/20 Vision Inside the Frame (worldwide)
Focusing on the perfect lens internationally
Still a work in progress! Thanks for the juice!
Carmen, can’t wait to see what you come up with!
