Who Ate My Muffin?

   It’s gone!
This morning, I brought breakfast to work.

A glass of water.
An English muffin.

I ate the first half of the muffin as I kicked off my day.

Reviewed the week ahead.
Read my email.
Got a little absorbed.

Went to grab the second half - and it was gone!

The plate was empty.
It was not on the table.
Raindrop was outside.

Where [...]

You’ll Like It

   We guarantee it!
I recently participated in an introductory webinar.

It was recommended by a respected colleague.
I was curious to see how they handled the topic.
The information was well presented.

Of course, they offered the big package at a special rate.

If the package lived up to the preview, could be very helpful.
I could use the information on [...]

A Letter From the President…

   Who cares?
A year and a half ago I joined an organization.

It made some big promises.
I showed up.
And played their game for a while.

January was my first year anniversary.

I got the request to renew.
And did my analysis.
The ROI promised was not there.

So I didn’t renew.

No one missed me.
They still use me - er, sell my [...]

I Should Have Known Better

   But I was excited.
Last week I opened my mouth when I shouldn’t have.

I bragged about not being sick all winter.
I got a flu shot this fall…
And got egg on my face yesterday.

From chills to soaring heights.

My fever did it all.
I was miserable.

As a kid I often had a high temp.

Mom would put me in the [...]

Have a Heart

    Now go sit down.
A few weeks ago I attended a chapter meeting.

One of the meeting goals was to build community in their chapter.
A break in the middle of their two-hour meeting gave members time to mingle.
The arrangements team also got creative with seating arrangements.

Valentine’s Day was just a few days away.

When members signed in, they [...]

What’s Wrong with This Renewal E-mail?

   Lots of things.
I don’t usually put emails in my blog post.

I don’t want people to be scared to write me.
But this one begged the action.
There is so much to learn from it - about what not to do.

Here’s the set:

No paid dues to this association in two years.
Attended nothing.
Got periodic emails - not consistently.

Here’s the [...]

They Trained Me to Have Control

   And then took it away.
I like checking myself in when I fly.

I always inspect the seating chart.
And move to a better place when I can.
Plus I feel in control.

This week in Albuquerque, they took the control away from me.

I walked up to the kiosk ready to check in.
And was greeted by a bossy lady [...]
