A Farewell to Cheers

   At least my version.

One of the great finds of Ann Arbor was the restaurant around the corner from where we live.

  • The food was great.
  • Everyone knew my name.
  • I felt special whenever I went in there.

James and I like to support local businesses.

  • This was a perfect fit.
  • We did a lot of business meetings there.
  • It was very convenient.

This week my world turned on a pin.

  • There was a new name on the building.
  • It was the last day for the guy who always greeted us at the door.
  • Almost everyone was leaving.

And there was more…

  • The food was different.
  • My favorite salad lost its zingy taste.
  • The new chef doused it with herbs I didn’t like.

We probably won’t go back much.

  • We could build relationships with new folks.
  • It’s still convenient.
  • But the food doesn’t taste good to me.

The new herby, earthy approach to cooking is a deal breaker for me - bummer.

Makes me think of chapter leaders…do you know the real reason why your members don’t renew?
