Bursting with Pride!

My mentoree just got her first CEO position.

About a year ago, she called to talk to me about speaking at her association’s leadership conference.

  • We had some fun conversation.
  • And clicked quite naturally.

She started to send me periodic emails.

  • She’s a sharp thinker.
  • I got a kick out of challenging her to stretch.

A few months later, she took a new position.

  • It was before I spoke at her association.
  • I never got to meet her in person.
  • Wondered if our conversation was done.

I should have known better.

  • It took her some time to get in the new groove.
  • And then she was back in my email box.
  • We progressed to an occasional phone call.

The CEO position opened up - and they wanted to interview her.

  • She called to tell me.
  • We did some strategizing together.
  • I kept tabs through the process.

Today she told me she got the position!

  • I’m bursting with pride.
  • She’s going to do an amazing job.
  • Can’t wait to see the executive she becomes.

(Interestingly I finally saw what she looks like just three days ago when I got a Christmas card from her.)

Makes me think of chapter leaders…who are you mentoring to lead the future?
