The Back Tells All
Posted on December 16th, 2008 by Cynthia D'Amour
Attempting to tone down my jet lag, I got a massage yesterday.
- I’ve been getting them monthly for about a year.
- I tend to run at a pretty crazy pace.
- The commitment forces me to stop to breathe.
I wondered how my back would feel after my Hawaii trip.
- Two 11-hour plane trips.
- A week in classes.
- Jet lag.
The state of my back surprised both me and my therapist.
- It was the loosest it’s been in a year.
- In spite of all of the above.
We debated what made the difference with my back…
- Meeting interesting people?
- A ton of laughter while hanging by the pool?
- Hawaii itself?
I’m leaning towards all the fun I had - in spite of it definitely being a biz trip.
- What would happen if I attended again?
- Can I recreate it in Ann Arbor?
- What if I took an actual vacation for a week?
I’ve got lots of variables to test to determine what caused the difference!
- It will be hard work.
- I’m willing to do it for the sake of research
- And a good time - er, relaxed back.
Makes me think of chapter leaders… do you know what combination of factors creates outrageous results for your chapter?
