Perhaps I Was Overreacting Just a Tad…

In the moment I was honest.

I feel sort of goofy about my rant last night.

  • The feelings were real.
  • The perspective was off.
  • There are worse things in the world than only getting half of one’s leftovers.

I’m not totally sure what ticked me off.

  • I had had a nice day.
  • I’m usually pretty laid back.
  • Something did though.

Major lesson from the experience…

  • My burst of anger did not last long.
  • (By the time I posted my story I was basically over it.)
  • BUT, the emotional memory lingered.

If this had been any other restaurant…

  • The icky feeling memory could taint my enthusiasm for going there.
  • I might get on a kick to explore new restaurants.
  • (More subconscious rejection than overt.)

My friend, the restaurant owner, didn’t let the negativity linger.

  • We chatted last night.
  • He did a great job acknowledging my frustration.
  • He also apologized - and attempted to make it better.

A few minutes of conversation made all the difference in the world to me.

Makes me think of chapter leaders…how do you diffuse frustration when members feel upset about your chapter?
