I Got By with A Little Help…

   From my friends!
Today I finally turned in the manuscript for my new book, The Lazy Leader’s Guide to Outrageous Results.

In the book I take on the 110% martyr culture for volunteer leaders.
It’s the seventh - and best book I’ve written to date.
(You can check out two chapters at http://tinyurl.com/lazyprepub )

The process for this book [...]

It’s Snowing Before Thanksgiving!

  And Mom didn’t even notice.
Raindrop here.
Mom has been consumed by finishing her Lazy Leader book.

She worked all day.
She didn’t play with me.
I’ll be glad when she sends it away tomorrow!

Today was our first real day of snow.

The grass was white.
It was cold outside.
Dad made me wear my coat when we went out to play.

I love [...]

Lazy Leader Sneak Peek!

  I’m so excited!
My new book is four days away from going to the printers.
Wanted to share with you a piece of my thrill.

Final cover is above.
It’s my debut as a cover girl of sorts!

Also posted two chapters so you can get a feel for the Lazy Leader.

One on embracing the Lazy Leader.
The other on [...]

Sandra Had a Cynthia Moment…

She wrote about it for my blog.
(Sandra used my style and my smile. I had to share with you.)
I got a call on my cell phone.

I didn’t recognize the number.
So it went to voice mail.

Upon listening, I got a great surprise!

It was my dentist…
The staff is awesome.
But they poke my teeth and gums - [...]

Podcamp Michigan was a Blast!

  Heads up association leaders.
On Saturday, James and I attended Podcamp Michigan.
Podcamps are held all over the world.

Gatherings of the social networking doers.
Set up by volunteers.
Often have sponsors.

Podcamp Michigan was launched by one man.

He secured a hotel.
Found fabulous speakers.
Attracted 65+ attendees.

Plus the event was free to attend.
I loved Podcamp Michigan.

The content rocked.
I met very cool [...]

Do You Have Big Balls…

   On your bed?
I spend a lot of time in hotels due to traveling for speaking engagements.
I’ve seen a lot of hotel rooms.

Really nice and okay.
Not usually surprised.
Until Dallas.

The hotel I just stayed at had a big stuffed ball on each of the two beds in my room.

The balls were about 18 inches circumference.
Velvety kind of cover.
No idea [...]

Depression and Leadership…

 What you need to know.
As a leader, you may find you have volunteers who are depressed.

They may struggle to function in their role for you.
The upcoming holidays can make it even more challenging.

Do you know what you are supposed to do when depression strikes your volunteers or members?

Should you try to cheer them up?
Do you [...]

I’m Going to PodCamp Michigan

It’s my first local social media event.
I got inspired to attend this weekend.

Saturday, Lynn Morton clued me into SocDev Camp East.
Held in Baltimore, MD - and I was in Ann Arbor.
I followed some of the programs live online.

Decoded for those of you not into social media:

Camps are meetings of people who blog and more.
Learning from each other.
Held periodically [...]
