I’m Going to PodCamp Michigan
Posted on November 2nd, 2008 by Cynthia D'Amour
It’s my first local social media event.
I got inspired to attend this weekend.
- Saturday, Lynn Morton clued me into SocDev Camp East.
- Held in Baltimore, MD - and I was in Ann Arbor.
- I followed some of the programs live online.
Decoded for those of you not into social media:
- Camps are meetings of people who blog and more.
- Learning from each other.
- Held periodically across the country.
Next weekend, PodCamp Michigan is in the Detroit Area.
- James and I plan to attend.
- Looking forward to meeting interesting people.
I RSVP’d on the event’s blog.
- Within two hours, got an email from the event host.
- Telling me he was looking forward to meeting us.
- Also gave me a link for more information.
Way to go Mark!
- He’s on a mission to build the social media community in Detroit area.
- Personal contacts like this will fuel the way!
- Looking forward to meeting Mark in person too.
Makes me think of chapter leaders… what happens when someone new signs up to attend one of your meetings?

Hi Cynthia,
Just wanted to say that I’ve started reading your blog. I’m wondering if you have heard about the book, “What Men Don’t Tell Women About Business”. I heard the guy (Chris Flett) on the Today Show and thought you probably have already heard of him. I’m wondering what your thoughts were. He seems to be really taking on the ‘Old Boys Club”. I just emailed him, but haven’t heard back.
Anyway, keep up the great writing.
Best,
Bihter.
Hi Bihter,
Welcome to my blog. I’ve heard Chris speak before and find his stuff about alpha males and the good old boys club interesting.
In some ways, it’s similar to what is going on in many chapters. The old way is being threatened by new members and some are fighting for survival.
Thanks for commenting!
