The Doctor Fish Made a Foot Call
Posted on October 2nd, 2008 by Cynthia D'Amour
Yesterday, I left Ann Arbor to hide away to finish my new book, The Lazy Leader’s Guide to Outrageous Results.
Today, I got writer’s block.
- Ugh.
- Maybe I just needed to relax a bit.
- Create space for the new ideas to flow.
I decided to try out a doctor fish pedicure.
- You dunk your feet in a vat filled with hungry doctor fish.
- They eat the dead skin on your feet.
- 25 minutes later, fish are happy - and feet are soft.
The doctor fish stretched my comfort zones.
- Putting my feet in the fish bowl was scary.
- I howled with laughter for the first five minutes.
- (Who knew my feet were so sensitive?)
Once I leaned into it, the experience was fascinating.
- The fish moved from one area of my feet to another.
- They didn’t like it when I wiggled my toes.
- I didn’t realize I had so much dead skin on my feet!
The rest of the pedicure was fabulous too.
- The chair I sat in massaged my back.
- The woman working on my feet had magic fingers.
- She painted my toes red-orange to match my hair.
This salon turned a typical pedicure into quite the adventure.
- My senses were at full tilt throughout the process.
- Afterwards, I was relaxed - and excited.
- I told a bunch of folks about my experience.
And yes, I’m ready to start writing again.
Makes me think of chapter leaders…when’s the last time members walked out of your chapter meeting and started calling friends to talk about the experience?

Oh. my. gosh. Where did you do this? I want one!
Can’t tell you how much I enjoy your daily quips–I’m working on starting my own blog, and would love to get your feedback sometime.

Hi Pam,
There are only two places in the country that offer these pedicures. Sarasota, FL and Alexandria, VA. Just google doctor fish pedicures if you want details. They are a TRIP!
Good for you for working on your blog. I’m trying to stay focused on getting my book done this week. Maybe when I get back I can take a peek at yours.
