BatGirl Strikes Again

  Raindrop here.
It’s Halloween so it’s time for my annual gig as BatGirl.
Between us, I feel dumb with fake wings tied around my tummy.

But, there are perks to looking silly.
Mom and Dad get really happy.
And I get to go trick or treating twice in one day.

I’m used to doing tricks for treats - but as [...]

What’s a Board to Do?

Is the decision easy or hard?
At a recent board meeting, Linda, current chapter president, asked her team to help identify potential board members for the next year.

The obvious hard workers in the chapter were quickly mentioned.
They had enough people to fill all the open spots!

The board was happy – until Linda proposed Jason as [...]

Sigma Alpha Made Me Speechless

  This rarely happens!
Eleven days ago, I spoke to the leaders of Sigma Alpha.

Sigma Alpha is a professional sorority.
Focused on promoting women in agriculture.
The group was predominantly collegiate chapter leaders.

Today I got a big bundle of thank you notes.

All from Sigma Alpha leaders.
Thanking me for my time.
Telling me how I helped them.

I was thrilled and touched.
As [...]

I Should Have Known Better!

I can barely keep my eyes open.
Oh why did I do it?

I’ve got a huge to-do list.
Requiring massive brain power.
And my battery is now fried.

UGH.
There’s simply no excuse.

I know what heavy carb lunches do to me.
It doesn’t matter how good the homemade lasagna from one of the best Italian places in town was.
(I shoot meeting planners who feed [...]

Welcome to the Family

  At the Gulf Tides Inn.
Earlier this month, I needed to get away to write The Lazy Leader’s Guide to Outrageous Results.

It was too distracting at home.
On speaking roadtrips, I had little time to focus.
Thus my planned escape.

St. Pete Beach is one of our favorite places to go.

The Gulf is fabulous.
The energy is relaxing.
But, I wanted [...]

I Ran Away

   I needed the timeout.
I’m in DC today.

I arrived yesterday.
Met with some friends and clients.
Slept in a mouse-free room.

Between a bad sprain and the invasion of killer mice, this week has been draining.

The scratch, scratch, scratch was just a bridge too far.
(James caught another mouse yesterday morning before I flew.)

Thankfully I already had this trip [...]

I Fought the Mouse…

  And I won!
A week of no sleep and raw nerves - it’s about time!
After breakfast, I wandered into the dining room.

Something made me look down.
I saw a little brown-grey blob.
I looked again and realized I was looking at a mouse!

I screamed with gusto for James!

H-E-L-P! M-O-U-S-E!
I quickly assumed second position (think ballet) with my feet [...]

Ah the Sweet Smell of Success…

  I’m hoping!
As we last talked:

An evil critter moved in my house.
Settled between first and second floor.
Makes terrible racket at night.

I called the pros.

The first guy was just there.
He made a few guesses.
My gut was in major doubt.

The second guy was very sharp.

Asked a few questions.
Told me I had a mouse in my house.
Started talking big [...]
