This is Your Former Favorite Store Calling…

   I hung up.

The last thing I need is recorded spam calls from stores I shop at.

I could tell from the delay it was a recorded call…

  • Would it be a celebrity asking me to write my Senator?
  • Another great deal on a credit card?
  • No! It was store I like to shop at.

Calling me through a recorded message.

  • Uninvited.
  • Unwanted.

“Hello, this is Store X…”

  • It mentioned I made a purchase in August!
  • What if James didn’t know about it?
  • They sort of betrayed me with the call.

Is irritating customers the best use of their marketing dollars?

  • Would love to know the stats on the results.
  • Did sales surge - or complaints soar?
  • How do I get my name off the list if they plan to keep calling?

Ironically, if the nice lady who helped me pick out my outfits called, I would have been glad to talk to her.

  • Telling me of a new outfit in my size and style that would look great on me.
  • It would be cool if she had it on hold since there was only in one my size.
  • (Oh wait, that’s Nordstrom’s approach.)

Bottom line…

  • The personal touch would have been welcomed.
  • The recorded call just made me rant.

Makes me think of chapter leaders…what kind of outreach have you done to your members lately?
