Would You Trust This Group?

  After reading this, perhaps not.
I just got an email from an organization promoting a high-end, exclusive seminar.

It’s executive content.
Speakers in high demand.
Only 25 total participants.

When I checked out the details, I found this statement:
“Due to overwhelming demand the deadline for applications has been extended to Sept. 12th.
Limited seating“
(I did the bolding.)
Huh?

If there’s overwhelming demand, why extend [...]

I Think She’s Still Mad at Me

So I thought I’d help Mom by writing in her blog today.
Raindrop here.
First of all, thank you to everyone who emailed asking how I’m doing.

I’m fine.
I did some mystery eating.
It didn’t stay down.

Mom hates my mystery eating.

She doesn’t understand.
It’s my thing.
It’s like I get blinders on when I see something that might be tasty.

I don’t like [...]

It Took Effort to Get Off the Couch

And I almost didn’t do it.
I’m on a committee for the Jr. League of Ann Arbor.
We planned our meeting over a month ago.

I received a few reminders about it.
The meeting was on my Outlook calendar.

And yet, when my work day was over, my mind was fried.

I had taught a webinar.
Written an article.
Consulted with a [...]

I Should Have Known Better…

All the warning signs were there.
Tonight, we had quite the adventure with Raindrop.
The first sign something was off - she wanted to sleep near my head.

Usually Raindrop sleeps at the foot of our bed.
Tonight, she insisted on being higher up.
Maybe she was still getting over my week on the road? (Hah!)

She moved to get even closer [...]

She Wouldn’t Take My Money…

And I was willing to give her lots!
Today I went in pursuit of a pair of walking shoes designed to help prevent plantar fasciitis - a lovely form of heel pain.
My friends told me to go to Mast Shoes.

They specialize in comfortable shoes.
Their staff is highly trained.
They have been around since the 1940s.

I’ve lived in [...]

Hit Me with Your Best Shot…

   You do have one, right?
Fall is a great time for recruiting new members and volunteers.

The back to school season often means changing calendars.
You’ve got to be ready to take advantage of fresh interest.
This means getting folks to show up at your chapter.

We’re working it at the Chapter Leaders Playground with September webinars.

Blogging Basics for Leaders - Sept.3rd [...]

I Feel Like a Rock Star…

  With adoring fans!
I’ve just spent a week on the road attending ASAE’s annual meeting in San Diego then speaking this morning in Indianapolis.
I finally arrived home tonight.

James picked me up from the airport with a big kiss and welcome home gift.
The waiter at our favorite restaurant said he missed me.

And then there’s my dog Raindrop…

She [...]

Don’t Even Think of Coming Back Here

If you leave by this door!
So I’m still in San Diego at the ASAE annual meeting.
And last night I got chased out of a bar by an angry bouncer.
What a surprise!

Grand entrances, yes.
Bouncers on my heels going out, no.

Here’s what happened…

I had dinner with my friends in my professional interest group.
We walked a few [...]
