And the Truly Great Trainer is…
Raindrop here. Mom’s busy working on the Chapter Leaders Playground fall schedule, so I dragged her extra laptop into my house - and here I am!
Mom cracks me up about how she’s training me to speak.
- Come on, deep down I’m a dog.
- I’m on the official neighborhood greeting committee because I bark so well.
She’s not training me - I’m training her!
- I just let her think she’s in charge.
- And I get paid well for it!
The first time Mom popped a treat in my mouth while I was barking - I stopped in total shock.
- Since when did she like my barking?
- I thought I was dreaming.
So I barked some more - and got another treat.
- I stopped barking again - was Mom sick?
- She started to lavish praise on me.
- Speak good girl, speak. You are so sweet.
Do I look dumb? I’ve got a good thing going here.
So I began training Mom to give me treats upon command - my command.
In addition to the snacks, I’m also getting a lot of attention.
- Mom travels a lot - speaking at leadership conferences.
- I miss her tons when she’s gone.
- So this is working perfectly - I’m getting lots of love AND treats from Mom
Just call me the Training Queen!
As Mom always says, makes me think of chapter leaders…are your members training you to give them attention? What kind of treats can you reward them with?
