As Seen in a Local Parking Lot…

Talk about clear and concise communication!
(I wonder if it’s her car, his car - or belongs to someone else?)
Makes me think of chapter leaders…how do you get your members’ attention when you want them to take action?

Who Was That Confident Woman on Stage?

She looked like my niece Alina…
How could that be?  She’s just in high school!
Friday night we attended Alina’s high school musical “Bye Bye Birdie.”
Alina had a starring role as Rose Alvaraz - the amazing secretary in love with her boss who was too chicken to tell off his mother so he could marry her.
Alina and her [...]

I Almost Got Shot…

   Trying to take this photo.
Yesterday I saw a car with an intriguing bumper sticker which said, “Well behaved women rarely make history.”
I wanted a photo to be able to share with you in my blog.
I was behind the car and hoped to snap the photo at the next light…
Unfortunately, the woman driving the car [...]

She Rocked the House!

   I was so proud.
One of the things I love about being involved is the opportunity to see volunteers grow dramatically - often very quickly!
Last night I saw a volunteer leader deliver a delightful five-minute review of her committee’s project impact to almost 100 people.
Only a few months ago, Stacey would turn quite pale just by [...]

Spotted in Our Neighbor’s Yard…

   The first flowers of spring!
Spring has finally arrived in Ann Arbor. I thought it would never get here.
We found little white flowers in our neighbor’s yard and our tulips have broken ground.
Ann Arbor is a city of tree-lined streets (it’s the arbor way) and is spectacularly beautiful in the spring.
Right now you can see the [...]

Enjoying Some Foolishness…

After this week, I needed a time out.
Luckily, Ann Arbor’s 2nd annual Festifools party was today.
University of Michigan students and community members work together to create parade-worthy puppets to strut down Main Street Ann Arbor.
The Festifools street festival is Ann Arbor’s interpretation of a Mardi Gras parade with a family-friendly energy.

The puppets were colorful and clever.
Many attendees dressed in [...]

Pinch Me Please…

   Is the week over yet?
Monday started out on a great note. Things worked like magic. I was pumped for the week ahead.
And Monday night I got the first call…

James’ long time family friend had passed.
Viewing was on Tuesday and funeral on Wednesday.
All taking place almost three hours away.

I had to fly Tuesday to Atlanta to speak at [...]

I Couldn’t Believe My Eyes!

How could a man be so mean?
Driving through downtown Chicago, I saw insult after insult about a woman named Sarah which seemed to come from a man she recently broke up with.

The first graffiti display clarified Sarah’s jeans did make look fat.
A few blocks later on a bus stop, the same writer proclaimed his mother never liked [...]
