A Little Dab Will Do You

  Or so the saying goes.
Yesterday I decided to celebrate the start of spring by getting my haircut off.
It’s been longer for a while - and was time to look like my famous photo again.
I tried out a new stylist and think it looks great.
This morning, when I got in the shower, I forgot my [...]

The Seduction of Time…

   To fill itself.
Today I found my time slipping through my fingers.
I thought my day was planned - but a variety of calls transformed my schedule.
As I weeded through my work, I found simple things kept expanding.

By mid-afternoon, my hour walk seemed to be debatable.
I almost let it go - and pulled myself up.

Was I really committed [...]

Grandma’s Girls Unite…

  In memory and love.
A friend’s grandmother passed away this week. Like me, she is a Grandma’s Girl.
My grandma was an amazing woman.
Grandma came of age in the 1920s - and was quite the radical as a flapper with a business degree.
She was a tough lady with a rebel heart who could bake an apple pie that [...]

I Thought I was Doing Great…

   Until she walked with me!
For the past several weeks, I’ve been working on burning more calories by walking at the mall.
I’ve pushed myself on:

how long I walk.
how far I walk.
how fast I walk.

I’ve been feeling pretty proud…
With temperatures in the 50s, this sunny day was feeling like spring. I was alone with Raindrop and [...]

I Felt Like a VIP

It was one of the best committee meetings I’ve attended in a while.
Yesterday I was in DC to attend ASAE’s Strategic Research Committee meeting.
This meeting could have been easily a passive and boring experience - but the leadership team was committed to making it worth our while to attend.
Prior to the meeting:

We received all our [...]

The Pairing was in Conflict…

   They had me fooled.
Flying early out of Denver, I stopped in an airport restaurant to grab breakfast.
This place seemed a bit nicer than most.

They used cloth napkins.
The plates were nice.
The food looked good.

And then I picked up my pretty silver fork - what a surprise.
Not only was it plastic, it was very cheap plastic.
The [...]

She Said, They Said…

And we continued to solve the puzzle.
One of the highlights of my Denver trip - in addition to working with some wonderful volunteer leaders - was the opportunity to catch up with my cousin Sarah.
Growing up, Sarah was the youngest girl cousin who drove me batty at times due to our age difference.
However, as adults [...]

It was Germany in the Foothills…

Or at least a taste of what could be.
While in Denver, I got to eat at the Westfalen Hof restaurant which is located outside of Denver a little ways up a mountain.
Westfalen Hof serves home-cooked German food and beer.

Walking in, I was engulfed in the aromas of food I couldn’t wait to taste.
The menu was [...]
