It was a Magical Day…

I should have bought a lottery ticket!
Do you ever have one of those days when everything seems to go the right way?
I had one when I traveled to Chicago this weekend for a speaking engagement…

I checked in at the airport and was upgraded to the last seat in first class.

A shuttle driver seemed to be [...]

Donald Trump vs. Tom Cruise…

Who would you want as a chapter volunteer?
It’s easy to complain about not having enough volunteers…

They don’t have time.
They don’t come back.
They don’t want to play.

When I ask what kind of volunteers people do want, I often get a funny look.
(Someone with a pulse perhaps?)
If you are going to be truly effective, you’ve got [...]

Not Again!

I am so tired of snow I could scream!
I thought spring had arrived.

The temperatures were in the 40s.
I was buzzing around without my winter coat.
It was time.

Or so I thought!
Yesterday afternoon I saw some of the biggest snowflakes I’ve ever seen falling with fury and once again wrapping Ann Arbor in a blanket of [...]

Not Your Friendly Neighborhood Kid…

Who let the adults take over the paper routes?
To our disappointment our paper girl decided to quit.
(We finally had her trained!)
If the Ann Arbor News wasn’t the only source for local government issues - and local sales at the fun independent stores in AA, I would cancel the paper.
However, right now, there is not [...]

Make it a Goal

   Perfect to support a New Year’s Resolution…
Today James got a calendar in the mail - you know the kind with pretty photos many companies at the start of the new year…
This one was sort of cool. It highlights upcoming triathlete races in Michigan.
The goal of the calendar was to help people think ahead - [...]

It was a Sad Day in Detroit…

   Thanks to Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.
Today several charges were brought against the Mayor for lying under oath - in addition to other things.
In the chats that sprang up on the news sites following the announcement of the Wayne County Prosecutor many people applauded her willingness to stand up for justice and hold Kilpatrick to the [...]

Happy Birthday Blog!

We celebrated our one year birthday this weekend.
On March 22, 2007 I launched my blog.

It was sort of nerve-wrecking.
This was my first attempt at doing a blog.
It took a good month or so to find my voice.

I’m pretty proud of our time together.
Over the past year we’ve shared interesting adventures such as…

My Friday the 13th fall [...]

If It’s Snowing…

It must be spring in Ann Arbor?
In the last 24 hours we got about 10 inches of snow.
What a great way to start Easter weekend!
There are several Easter Egg hunts scheduled for this morning.

One local group dyed 214 dozen eggs for their party.
At least with the color, the kids should be able to spot the eggs [...]
