When food gets in your teeth?
I met a friend for lunch today.
We had a great time swapping business ideas.
We laughed a lot.
I ran into someone I hadn’t seen in over a year.
I felt charged up from lunch - until I got in my car and looked in the rearview mirror!
OMIGOSH!
A few spices from the [...]

Once again, Raindrop, my dog, is pestering James to play with her.
One of Raindrop’s favorite games is to chase an empty Gatorade bottle with a few treats inside it.
The bottle makes fabulous noise as she chomps on it.
The treats are her reward for figuring out how to unscrew the top.
And there’s more to the [...]

What would make your chapter an irresistible value for today’s potential members and volunteers?
I’ve been debating colleagues about what chapters need to excel.
Some argue the problem is with the chapter model.
They propose chapters would be better if they…
Didn’t have to have board members - just few people who plan the events.
Used more online communities than [...]

What was she thinking???
I’m cramming for a deadline and have the TV on for noise on some weird show called “The Moment of Truth.”
Contestants are asked progressively personal question with one’s family and spouse sitting around to hear the results of the lie detector machine.
I don’t understand why someone would want to embarrass or [...]

And the crowd ooohed and ahhed…
For the conference’s closing night dinner, we were asked to dress as if we were attending a rock concert.
At the top of the escalator at the entrance to the party, I ran into Heather.
She had her hair braided ala Pippi Longstocking - and wore a fun jacket to boot.
I learned Heather had [...]

Give me a break!
I just spent some time chatting with my email provider’s live help.
The pre-chat form required for access asked for my name.
In the course of our chat, the live helper addressed me as “Sir” three times.
It finally got my goat enough to shoot back that while I appreciated the help, “Cynthia” is a female [...]

It’s a special party for special people…
At least that’s what the email said.
I was invited to a private reception at the conference I just attended.
Per directions, I stopped by the main booth to pick up my party pass.
When I asked for the pass, I got grief from the woman working the booth.
“We only let [...]

Or is it just a California thing?
While in San Francisco I had the pleasure to connect with Angela Wallace.
Angela was part of the volunteer team that helped create the Chapter Leaders Playground. Angela is also a past president of the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of NAPO - National Association of Professional Organizers.
Angela’s chapter was meeting just a [...]
