Looking for Strategic Conversations…
It’s no fun when I’m not prepared properly.
Today, I had another volunteer meeting to attend.
(I think every group I’m involved with scheduled for this week!)
It was supposed to be 90-minutes of pure strategic conversation.
Definitely needed - and could be fun.
What were going to talk about?
- A couple of topics were floated a month ago.
- No agenda was sent in advance.
I arrived at the meeting surprised to find at least ten topics written on the whiteboard as an agenda - and did not include the topics from the earlier email.
We had a few problems…
- Too many topics; too little time.
- Several topics were complex and needed think-time.
- A few topics needed more information to make solid decisions.
Instead of starting 2008 with a power plan in hand, we will be meeting again in late January…
Makes me think of chapter leaders…how do you prepare your members for successful strategic conversations?
