How Do You Spell Stress?
I spell it D-E-A-D L-A-P-T-O-P!
Yesterday afternoon, my laptop computer died.
At first, I refused to believe it.
- I kept trying to turn the computer back on - but nothing worked.
- My cousin, an IT genius, coached me for an hour on the phone to no avail.
I wanted to sit down and cry - but had a Jr. League meeting for the Strong Mom, Strong Girls speaker bureau project.
- I could have skipped the training
- People probably would have understood.
- Getting the word out about girl bullying was too important to blow off.
This morning I tried one more time to give my computer CPR - tried is the operative word.
I was tempted to give into my frustration…
- Would I ever see my photo collection again?
- What about my final project for my MBA?
- Oh the pain.
Just as I was about to let it rip, my lunch date called and told me how much she was looking forward to seeing me.
It had been a long time since our last meeting - I pressed on.
This evening, James and I finally went to our favorite computer store.
- Within minutes, we had the promise of recovered data.
- Our sales guy Jesse identified what I needed to be back in business.
- Within an hour I walked out with everything in hand.
I am so relieved I feel almost like crying just to let go of the stress…
Instead, I’m kicked back writing this post on a new computer.
Life is good.
Makes me think of chapter leaders…when times seem challenging, how do you keep focused on what’s really important?
