MSU’s History Tells the Story…

And it isn’t pretty for the Broad School of Business.
After writing about my disappointment in the lack of women speakers for MSU’s Business School’s premiere program, I was contacted by Dean Duncan - dean of Michigan State University’s Broad College of Business.
Dean Duncan informed me other women were invited to be on the program but none were [...]

Shame on You MSU and GM

The 1950s are long over!
Yesterday I received an invitation to attend Michigan State’s Business School’s 42nd annual executive forum.

The conference at first glance sounded interesting.
It’s focused on going global with branding.
Looking more closely at the seven speakers, I noticed they are all men.

Give me a break!
In the entire state of Michigan, I have a hard time believing [...]

How Do You Spell Stress?

  I spell it D-E-A-D  L-A-P-T-O-P!
Yesterday afternoon, my laptop computer died.
At first, I refused to believe it.

I kept trying to turn the computer back on - but nothing worked.
My cousin, an IT genius, coached me for an hour on the phone to no avail.

I wanted to sit down and cry - but had a Jr. League meeting [...]

Am I Like You?

  Or are you like me?
Thanksgiving Day James, Raindrop and I spent time with a variety of family.
We started with the official dinner at my parents’ house.

The food was tasty as usual.
My brother’s kids were adorable.
Raindrop got to visit with her cousin Snowy (My parents’ dog who is also a Chug - Chihuahua/pug)

We then went across town to visit [...]

Why Bother Showing Up?

She didn’t get to do anything anyways.
I had dinner last night with a friend. She’s trying to volunteer for a group that claims to need volunteers.
Suzy (not her real name to protect the innocent and dumb) has offered to help out on few committees over the last year.
The first chair “lost” Suzy’s email address [...]

A Hot Find on E-Bay

For the cookie addicts of the world.
Last night, at Trader Joe’s, a cool grocery store, I came across the Candy Cane Joe Joe’s cookies.
They were basically Trader Joe’s version of Oreos with a Candy Cane type filling. A nice-sized box for just under $3.
Or so I thought…
When I went to checkout, I got the rest [...]

Why Me?

All I wanted to do was sleep in today!
This morning at 4 AM, Raindrop tried to wake me up. She’s been having trouble (still) adjusting to the time changes with “fall back” to end daylight savings time.
I told her to go back to sleep, rolled over and did the same.

At 5 AM, our normal [...]

Generations at Work…

   Dancing up a storm!
Last night, as part of impromptu adventure, James and I saw They Might Be Giants in concert. (Very big in the 1980s and 90s)
I think it was in the stars for us to attend because just before we called, someone turned in tickets in the 12th row, center - so we [...]
