The Rest of the Story
Between you and me, I wasn’t always 100% sure I wanted to attend the awards program last night.
Sure, my friend Jody invited me…
- She lives in California and was in Metro Detroit.
- She’s the national president of the group.
- It was a big night for Jody to share with me.
And yet…
- I wouldn’t know anyone there besides Jody.
- I was tired from a long trip home from California the night before.
- I was going to have to drive in rush hour traffic to get there.
Whine, whine, whine!
(I knew I should go - and did.)
Attending was totally worth it!
Not only was it a special night for Jody; she introduced me to several of her friends - including Marnie.
Marnie and I clicked right away in so many ways…
- We grew up just a few miles apart.
- We came from similar families - in the spirit of many quirky ways!
- We both are entrepreneurs.
Marnie sells amazing high-fashion purses made from recycled tires. (She’s holding one in the photo.) You can check me out in the near future to see one - or take a sneak peak at her website.
We swapped ideas back and forth - Marnie may even be joining me in the Chapter Leaders Playground for a cool program about people who chant as if possessed, “We’ve always done it this way!” (Stay tuned)
I did a little personal stretching last night, met some cool people - and found at least one new friend.
Made me think of chapter leaders… what have you done lately as a personal stretch?
