Saturday Morning Wisdom

Sidewalk PoetryWas the message for me?

Walking downtown St. Petersburg, FL on an early Saturday morning, I came across some grafitti on the sidewalk - in the form of poetry.

Several stanzas long, written in colorful chalk, the poem was pretty to look at - without even reading it.

My favorite stanza read…

close the door
carrying only
the one perfect
when you knew
you had what
it’d take to make it
& you always would.

I loved the overall positive message offered anonymously.

The poet must have been busy late the night before. So far only a few had smeared the words with their shoes.

By the end of the day, the message would be blurry - perhaps lost and never shared again.

I thought the message was beautiful - and needed to live on.

It made me think of chapter leaders…How do you capture you volunteers’ moments of success - and share them with others?
