Elizabeth Edwards on Younger Involvement

Elizabeth Edwards spoke at BlogHer07.
Elizabeth has been active in on-line communities for many years and currently comments on several blogs - including the one that supports her husband’s campaign for US President.
Elizabeth was asked about getting younger adults more involved.
She talked about how when she was in college in the late 1960’s they had the [...]

800 People Attended Their Meeting

In February 2005, three women had an idea.
They were tired of:

Blogging/tech conferences where the speakers were almost entirely male.
Lack of linking blog to blog across the sexes.
Feeling overlooked.

The three women decided to do something about it…
They created BlogHer - a community for women bloggers.
I just attended the third annual BlogHer conference.
Imagine…

800 attendees - predominantly women
Amazing [...]

Politics at the Airport

I was to fly to Chicago today.
Me and 98 others in one plane - until they made the announcement 45 minutes before departure.
Due to weight issues, only 79 people would be able to get on the plane and fly today…

The other flights were so packed those left behind may have to wait a day or [...]

Take Me to the Spa!

Raindrop went to a favorite place today - the doggy spa!
(Raindrop goes once a month - perhaps in the quest for life balance, her mom should take note…)
Theresa is Raindrop’s groomer and the reason why Raindrop loves going to the spa…

Theresa makes Raindrop feel special.
She talks to Raindrop as if she’s an important person.
Theresa gives Raindrop a [...]

I Don’t Get It

Am “eye” asking for too much?
Last week I missed a volunteer committee meeting due to not feeling well.
I contacted my chair to let her know what was going on.
It was a “big decision” meeting.
I felt strongly about one of the issues so wrote out my point of view and logic behind it.
The chair said she [...]

I Want Her Energy

Over the weekend, James and I checked out Hairspray - the new movie.
I could talk about…

the fun music
the weirdness of seeing John Travolta as a mom
the issue of integration
the hair fashions of the early 1960s (Did the crispy hair ever crack with all the spray?)

but I’d rather talk about Nikki Blonsky - aka Tracy Turnblad.
Nikki’s [...]

It’s Time for a Change

Okay, I’m tired of being damaged and want to go back to my normal chipper self.
Interestingly, I’m not finding the transition as easy as just flipping a switch.
Sort of like a dog with a bone that’s past due going in the trash…
The dog doesn’t really want the bone any more, but:

If I try to take [...]
