It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane…

I felt like a superheroI felt like a superhero today.

Okay, perhaps superhero is a bit of a stretch; however, it was an amazing morning for me.

I attended a small business owners’ meeting as a volunteer marketing consultant.

The purpose of the meeting was to brainstorm a variety of ideas for those in attendance.

I walked into the very early morning meeting a bit tired. (I stayed on California time over the weekend since I fly back there tomorrow.)

To conserve energy, I sat back and listened more than my normal hyper, idea-generating brainstorming self might do.

While working through the various issues, something clicked inside me. I began to appreciate the vast amount I have learned over the last 12 years as a business owner.

(Usually I’m so busy going, I don’t take time to remember what the early days were like.)

I had a huge surge of empathy for the newer business owners - and worked to share what I had learned the hard way to speed them through their own learning curves.

At the end of the meeting, the heartfelt thank you’s made my day. I almost felt like a superhero…

Made me think of chapter leaders… how do you tap your seasoned members to give them the opportunity to help your newer members - and feel like superheroes too?
