She stole the show in mere seconds…
Yesterday I attended the Inforum (formerly Women’s Economic Club) Annual Meeting. About 300 people were in attendance and Rick Wagoner, Chairman and CEO of General Motors was the keynote speaker.
While Rick offered many interesting insights about GM - the real show stealer was Hattie Stroud.
Hattie is a University of [...]

I didn’t realize I made a difference…
Five days ago (on Saturday), I attended a chapter meeting and helped out - just a little bit.
About two weeks earlier, Marilyn, the Programming VP, had emailed me asking me to help out by timing the speakers on our panel.
My job consisted of sitting up front, timing the speakers [...]

I’ll confess… I held my breath as I waited to hear if Apolo or Ian was going to be sent home.
(I’m a big Apolo fan. He didn’t go home.)
Who is Apolo?
Apolo Anton Ohno is one of the finalists in ABC’s Dancing with the Stars
show.
Why do I care?
I have an exciting life and lots of friends [...]

Walking downtown yesterday, James and I saw a man approaching us who seemed to be consumed in reading a book.
I was impressed at the guy’s ability to walk in a straight line while reading. (Interestingly, there are tips for reading while you walk - it’s touted as a time-saving strategy.)
When the guy was about five feet away, [...]

After a very busy week and weekend, James and I decided to sit outside on the porch to catch some fresh air while working.
As we hashed through a variety of topics, I stopped for a moment to look out and take in our yard. To my surprise, what I saw was gorgeous!
The grass was freshly [...]

Something is different with Raindrop.
Every since we’ve been back from Florida, Raindrop has been happier than normal. She’s a giddy girl. Sometimes I catch her just looking at me with her tail wagging. (It’s weird!)
James and I have been trying to figure out what’s going on…
* Has she found some secret stash of dog treats?
[...]

Do you ever get emails that just take you back?
I got one this morning. The subject was “Help Rescue Me From Retirement.”
I’m not sure if I’m extra grumpy this morning - or if the approach just really hits my nerve…
The email was from a 54 year old guy who wanted me to hire him. He [...]

On our last day in St. Pete, James and I viewed the Wolf to Woof: The Story of Dogs exhibit at the Florida International Museum.
The exhibit explained that all dogs existing today evolved from wolves.
Displays showcased the close similarities between wolves and dogs in bone structure, behavior, communication styles and more.
A video described how pure breed dogs are bred [...]
